Tobacco is vitally important for the Cuban economy; it ranks second in its agricultural exports, with revenues reaching between 150 to 200 million dollars annually. Other countries export and sell more tobacco but it's not the volume of Cuban tobacco that consumers appreciate, it is the quality. The area around Vinales in the Pinar del Rio province of Western Cuba is known for producing some of the best tobacco in the world.
